It helps a lot to identify the issue.

There is a black area under the loading bar while loading game

The black background is for the loading screen tipps (if you have the STNH main mod activated)

If you're only using the UI mod then the background will stay black.

(if that's the black area you're talking about), if not then please upload a screenshot

AI Controlled (crew), and Multitronic Computer do not work

correction... none of those components will let me change them, they all default back to the newest tech, except multitronic computer, which defaults back to duotronic
