Total War: WARHAMMER II

Total War: WARHAMMER II

SFO: Grimhammer II
Recommended difficulty for SFO?
First time playing sfo, experienced total war player.Thinking of pumping up the difficulty in campaign.I just dont want my elite units losing to peasant bowmen and for the diplomacy to not work at all. Thats why I thought I should go for hard/hard but idk.Do you guys know whether or not legendary makes the game less immersive by making AI spam stack after stack like in rome 2 dei? Are the battles making you furious because your elite cavalry cant defeat skavenslaves(Im exaggerating of course for everyone to understand what I mean) May I have your input? Thanks in advance!

TLDR: Want challenge yet I dont want to be cheated on

Im playing legendary with SFO Grimhummer ll: Hard mode SUBMOD. Everything looks fine. Elite cavalry can defeat skavenslaves. Some problems come when Norska dudes coming with 4 nations every one with 5 armys and you have only 1 army that can win fight 1 on 1 against ther one (fk 8 manticores is a big problem). So i think you need to try that way to

in legendary, orcs are unbreakable, they are like dwarfs, even the "bad leadership" units lol

Since you seem a good player, have you ever play Teclis/ High Elves against Lizardmen? Especially in battles. I am in the situation of deleting saves because of frustration. Their units are too powerful, even with T1/T2 and the normal one not the blessed one, not to mention the monster.
Magic can't hurt them much, arrow just a little better. Their leadership are too high, it almost take 20-25 minutes to rout the skinks. Could not shatter them just rout.

I'm using easy submod and i just lost my empire campaign as the gold wizard thingy .. doing fine , had 3 provinces , just taken templehof , then skaven plagues combined with both grimgor and azhag invading from south and east respectively , orc waargh with almost all units gold chevroned with grimgor was impossible and armies and garrisons decimated by skaven plague , wiped out i was. oh and i use vanilla settings in game. I probably just suck but i like being able to lose a game occasionally as that adds spice , if a game is winnable 100% of the time why bother playing it ?

Very Hard/ Normal?
I also don't like Goblins fighting to the last man, it's immersion-breaking.

tbh its not immersion-breaking if they flee they die anyways to the orcs so staying and fighting they have a better chance

as well, if you played the base game already as w.e faction play them again on the same settings and see how it feels. if its to hard then move it down 1 till you get a better understanding of your early game. most of the time its better to fight then sit and stack and same can be said the other way around. chilling and stacking your army can win a battle and snow ball you early on. meaning getting your first province more quickly and early on.

Hahaha, 2 units of clanrats are obliterating a unit of Black Guard of Naggarond as we speak. Morale system is broken af with skaven, they won't break, cast flame storm on them twice nothing, charge Black Guard into them nothing, surround with units including Malekith nothing. The morale system is broken.

Just keep campaign difficulty high and battle difficulty lower. That way it's still challenging dealing with overwhelming odds, but you don't have tier 2 units kicking your elite tier 5 units butts.

Doing a VH/H campaign right now and it's pretty enjoyable. I tried legendary but the battle buffs seemed a bit excessive.

I always play on normal battles and very hard campaign.

I normally play Hard campaign with normal battles. DON'T play battles in higher difficulties, unless you want to see swordmen fighting untill death and almost winning against minotaurs! And Bretonnian lords? Oh man, Bretonnian lords are no longer fighting for the Lady in SFO. they fight for death now, and will butcher you, your family and your pets.
It's already much much harder than vanilla in normal.

very hard campaign and normal battles is the best imo, with or without this mod

Vanilla VH is very doable, even "easy" with certain factions. With SFO, VH can be painful considering how SFO hinders the player.
The best setup for SFO new player is N/N. If you have played around SFO, go H/N. SFO is balanced around normal and hard.

I have played a few total war games and i think that H/N is reasonable for most factions if you a bit of a struggle.

Edit: I am also fairly new to SFO.
