Here's an idea of how you could make a similar mod with only a different texture: a hamster wheel for humans. A lot less resources and a lot less power. Just enough to start a vehicle which needs a quick kickstart (like with a reactor connected to a conveyor system, which you can't access, and has no batteries or other means of powering itself).
