AIRBASE_CAPACITY_MULT = 100
common/defines/00_defines.lua
AIRBASE_CAPACITY_MULT = 96
With that, I made all squadrons divisors of 96 (which historically most squadrons and wings were, albeit the occasional 18 or 36, or even 21)
Using common common/units/air.txt I changed them to:
- Fighters 48
- Bombers 32
- Land- based naval (bomber and scout) 24
- Carrier-based anything (both land and sea values) 16
- Transports 12.
Yea, 16 doesn't exactly fit on CV's perfectly. Their variety of total planes, and their small incremental improvement, their isn't a single divisible number that comes out exact all across the board anyway.
It also keeps them inline with the 96 divisible when land based. So for the most part, starting with, say 85 or so planes (US) at start, 16 gives 5 squadron (if you use 12, it gives you 7 squadrons). 2 fighters, 2 SB's. and a TB (or 1 SB and 2 TB's if you prefer those).
Light Bombers/CAS are currently set at 32, but not sure how that will work out. They are essentially just modified fighter models as far as the game is concerned, and multi role fighters can do some CAS (well, they used to. It's been a while). Not sure if this will cause the game to get confused and hiccup or not.
