Yeah this had legitimately ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my game. I unsubbed from this mod and it still won't open ffs.

What the ♥♥♥♥ is this. I cannot play me game.

I have deleted the config, unsubscribed form the mod, dleeted my saves, and cleared the cache, as well as checked integrity and STILL I get this error and cant start up my game! Someone needs to fix this!

This error is not caused by this mod. It’s caused by using the wotc katana pack while still having subbed the legacy katana pack. You need to unsub from the legacy mod. (Deactivating is not sufficient.) I strongly recommend reading mod descriptions of the mod you sub to.

I do not have the legacy katana pack and havent for a long time. And I read your highlander troubleshoot guide and did everything it outlined, I even tried putting the latest version into the mod folder instead of using the workshop version; and yes I deleted the workshop version in the files and unsubbed before I did.

Can you confirm the highlander works for you? You should see a the text "X2WotCCommunityHighlander" + a version number on the starting screen.
If not or the tooltip on the text reports any errors try

copying the files in

<Steam>\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\1134256495\CookedPCConsole\

or your respective installation location to

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\CookedPCConsole\

Also really make sure steam deleted the legacy katana mod by checking if the folder

<Steam>\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\698579656 does not exist.
If it does, delete it.

Use the alternate mod launcher to detect any other mod conflicts.

Finally delete your config folder

%USER%\Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config

and start the game once WITHOUT mods active so you have clean state.

The alternative mod launcher revealed alot of conflicts with the highlander that I never thought about...the game is working now.

Glad its working now and thanks for the apology! I understand its gets frustrating when a game isnt working because of mods. Been there many times with skyrim. Thats the risk with installing a lot of mods unfortunatly.

so i start xcom2 after deleting config folder for wotc and then it wont load the game of wotc. wont run like it goes back to ready to play not loading wotc but will load xcom2
