Compatibility with SMG Mod
I'm also using Long War SMG Pack - WotC (unofficial). I just unlocked mag weapons. I haven't upgraded my SMGs (haven't built the Stuttermag item), but when I upgraded my rifles, it appears to have unlocked the Tier 2 SMGs anyway.

Presumably, this is an unintended interaction between the two mods. E3245, are you interested in investigating compatibility? It's not a devastating bug or anything; I can just choose not to use the weapons that shouldn't be unlocked, but I would be happier without having to sort through them unnecessarily.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I rarely check the forums (because I don't get notifications for when someone starts a new discussion).

I'd wait until Pavonis updates their weapons (which I hear that they are in the process of doing so) for WotC. I'm not gonna update my mod to match that. The other problem is that not everyone is gonna sub to the LW SMG mod and this mod at the same time, but I think I can get around that.

Hey E3245, In light of Pavonis' recent announcement that they will no longer be doing anything for WotC, would you be willing to review this request?

I missed that. Are they shifting away from XCOM 2 entirely for the time being? I see from their web site they're hoping to crowdfund a new title.

They said that they're still gonna port the weapon packs to WotC, so my original statement still holds.

They aren't porting LW2 or any LW mods to WotC except the weapon packs (SMG and Laser).

I stand corrected, I didn't see that statement, but I take your word for it! In which case, your approach makes perfect sense.
