@Space Gnome i think you are correct i think some addon is messing with the particles.

@ fat crocodile make sure you find particle releated addons that you've installed, and disable them to see if this addon works now i.e. (particles)

if all else fails reinstall your game.

@Profile Name It is some addon, I am trying to figure out as we speak but i found ONE line of mods that was breaking it

If you have the drones 2 mod for some reason it breaks the effects and stuff.

Particle related addons haven't produced any fruit with uninstalling them.

As of now I'm still having an issue with effects and things not appearing (same with certain TFA weapons)

I can definitely try to get back to you if I found any other mod that conflicts with this but so far I'm in the same boat with yall

ALRIGHT! I have a solution that WORKS. But, I cant tell you which mods conflict and which dont, but:

The best way i solved the issue was to go into my garrysmod folder (Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod) and removing the following: Everything in the addons folder (it will not clear your subscriptions), and everything in the cache folder, aka all the big stacks of files in the lua and workshop folder (except maybe the rescource folder in workshop) then it should work. It fixed the issue for me, but do reply back to me on this if it works for you. This does mean you will need to reinstall all of your mods, so do pray your router loves you.

Quick Edit, This might also actually be the solution, but I also installed GBombs 5, which contains a few explosive effects (dont know if it was the issue or not, either way you get the addition of extra boom) https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=911005339

I will have to say for me, the gbombs addon addition did not fix them.


As soon as i finish up with my friends on gmod I'll do your original solution, will edit this to see if it works.

It did not work for me, pretty sure it's a mod.

but definitely had it's pros as it cleared mods i didn't even have installed anymore.

But I can try installing gbombs 5 AFTER the clear and see

i disabled this mod https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1580980880 and it started working again. see if you have this and if so disable and see if it works for you.

its also the special infected l4d2 vj base mod that was messing it up for me

It won't let me use the planes and all I see is four dark grey squares
