The galaxy is different and so are the heros. I don't understand why that's the case.

But I'm on the medium known map, its starts at 4 aby, same as in the video.

Uh make sure that you are updated then, because there is no reason it should be different then.
The first playlist mightb still use the .2 maps

I downloaded the latest version 2 days ago. I just dont understand why I'm getting the same start as the video from over a year ago when I downloaded the mod so I could play the game after watching the video from 3 months ago.

As is stated above if you want exactly the same map as in a recent YT playthrough you need to check episode 1 what setting is used. As far as I remember, in the 2nd video above the 2nd largest map is used (the one without empire of the hand i.e. 150ish planets) AND with start era set to either 3 or 4 (don't remember, check the video as Corey shows the setting.).I also got the wrong map first time I wanted to play same map as Corey did, just try again ;)
