Yeah, the map you swapped to might have not had a soundscape, so it probably used the last one it used. Typing stopsound into the console should fix the issue.

The middle does have cover, its just not as direct as the other parts.

Doorways and whatnot don't have Entrance/Exit pinch nodes. NPCs could potentially get stuck in the doorways to and from the forts, or possibly in the cover crosses.
