you will need to create a model in some thing which you can export into a source file
then you will want to apply depending on the type of saber you will want to create bones and attach them to the model
Creating Lightsaber models
the model itself does not NEED to be the R_Hand but it will look kinda weird if it is not
Your models MUST have a bone named ValveBiped.Bip01_R_Hand to act as a weapon model. ( So it attaches to your hand )
Your models MUST have attachments for each blade:
blade1
blade2
blade3 - etc, format for normal blades
Your models MUST have attachments for each quillon ( Kylo Ren like sideguards ):
quillon1
quillon2
quillon3 - etc, format for Kylo Ren-like crossguard blades.
and here if this does not help just open the model up in blender and don't know how to do that here is a video on how to do it with a ragdoll
