How do you dump the old installations of the Code patch?

If you are wanting to upgrade, just install the new version on top.

If you are wanting to uninstall, goto steam and verify local files. This will revert back, technically it will leave a few files around, but they are small and will no longer be in use.

My system is Windows10. When I use your .bat file, I get an error message saying it doesn't know the command 'java'. Do I need to install a special app to enable Java? If so, which one? Couldn't find anything obvious in the Store.

You need the java jre installed to use the bat file.

Subscribe to the mod in Steam. That will auto-download it.

The mod and readme will be located -

All the needed files will be located in the game’s Master of Orion's Workshop folder location. This folder will be located in your Steam’s main folder under this game’s workshop folder. Which at least for me is under "Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\298050\1109736522".

The readme and zip file will be there.

It is not a precise location since it varies depending upon where you installed the steam application.

Hi! When I open the bat file it tells me its unable to access the jarfile. Not sure what to do

EDIT: i fixed it. originally i had extracted to desktop but then i created a new folder and extracted there and now the bat file works.
