I believe he changed how the badges are crafted now. You have to an orc or gelragarian smithy to craft them. How to recruit them without the badge was also changed, but I honestly don't know how that process is since I had the badges prior of the new changes.

kill an ogre i think was one of the ways, changed countless patches ago will try and find and link but it unlocks with a kill now and is made on the ogre/gel tables once unlocked

I believe he meant hc diorex, then ogre, not hc ogre
