catapults and arresting cables
I am annoyed that you can only use 1 of the catapults, which launches nothing, and the arresting cables probably don't work.

For the arresting cable just use a somekind of rope..

just a theory, but what about hydraulics? never tried it myself though.

Ropes in Source are 2D sprites without collisions. What you could do is take some of those really skinny PHX bars that are the size of one or two grid squares, use the stacker tool to make enough of them to span the length you need, and then make sure they're welded. This will provide you with a physical cable that you can hook on to.
