If you don't want to use a mod, it will be easy to find what you like using an LUT. You subscribe from the workshop and turn it on in the graphics options in game. It's absolutely harmless. Here is a pack of very good ones so you can go through and hopefully find one you like. :) https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1889738001&searchtext=
However is it possible to get a modified version with more pale/white-ish sands? (Often as seen from above) I've been looking at Caribbean photos for inspiration and the sands in Cities Skylines often appear more yellow (and sure it is up close), even from above. Maybe it's an camera thing, where the sunlight being reflected by the sand that makes it appear more white-ish.
There is a bit to learn about the workshop and the game - when people run into problems with performance or crashes etc, it's almost always going to be something related to workshop stuff. The game itself is rock solid. It's when we try to add too much stuff or mods that conflict with each other that we bork our own game. :D
Unrelated but also helpful to users with low spec computers: if you don't already use it, Loading Screen Mod will optimize your game's usage of your RAM, and can allow you to block the loading of vanilla assets you don't like (which saves a LOT of RAM).
Another way to optimize your game and reduce RAM use is to disable any DLC you don't want to use in your current city, and reducing texture quality to medium. Hope these tips help you enjoy the game more!
Maps are the same unless they are Snowfall or contain mod-required content which is no longer working. Those are rare maps, though.
