Omschrijving
This mod adds 3 things:
  • Weld Pad block (for smallship and largeship/station)
    Ultra-slim and cheap merge blocks that are only usable once because they get destroyed in the merge process.
    Also unlike mergers they don't have a magnetic ability but they do inform nearby friendly/neutral engineers of the alignment when a pair of these blocks are in range of each other.

  • Detach Mode (for handheld grinder)
    When holding a grinder you can hold Ctrl key or Left Bumper to enter detach mode (releasing will turn it off).
    While in that mode you won't grind off any components but you can detach blocks.
    The time it takes to detach a block is the same amount of time it would take to grind that block to red line with your current grinder tier.
    You can only detach friendly or neutral blocks, of any type.

  • Precision Grind (for handheld grinder)
    Grind only a specific block when you have way too high grinding speed that prevents you from easily doing so.
    Hold SecondaryAction (RMB or gamepad equivalent) while aiming at a block with a hand grinder.
    This will cause your grinder to only grind that targetted block and nothing else (even after that block was fully grinded), the effect will release once you release the keybind.


Known issues
- Attaching to pistons can cause self-spin issues because of the large gap in jump.
For now can be avoided by making pistons go up to the already fully-extended platform held by one piston, or fixed after the fact by fiddling with pistons' velocity (remotely, antenna required) so that they line up they're intended position with the actual position of the top part.
- [FIXED] Detaching rotor/piston/wheel/hinge bases will also disconnect them from their tops.
- [FIXED] Use only 1 pad per grid when attaching, using multiple can cause errors in the game code.

@Digi Heads up, confirmed that connecting weld pads inside a safe zone is an instant CTD. Is still fine otherwise.

crash for me and my friend in singleplayer or dedicated server as soon i try to use welding pad seems to be broken since patch

This mod is so damn good! I can repurpose my batteries from older builds now instead of just... crafting more. Welding has come into play so often when I accidentally rip off a portion of ship (armor plating or scaffolding, maybe a piece fell off the gantry etc.)

The next thing needed for Grinding would be to somehow stop the Grinder from going past the Functional Line when holding precision mode, or as a toggle. Toggle would be nice.

Welded one container directly to another? Try again with a conveyor junction in between.

Anyone having issues with containers that are connected with weld pads not allowing transfer of materials between them? Port are matched correctly so should be fine and if I use a merge block it works... just doesn't with weld pads.

When detaching a block with this mod, is there any way to control where it detaches, or does it just split the single block off of all grid attachments? Like, if I build a column of blocks and try to detach one in the middle, can I somehow make it only detach from one side, or will it just split the whole grid into three - one end of the pillar, the detached block alone, and then the other end of the pillar?

Would it be possible to detach only one specific side of a block at a time?

Ideally having the ability to detach sides that can't be directly pointed at. The specific use case I have in mind is "slicing a ship in half to insert some stuff in the middle".

Regarding the piston thing, what if you could make dormant welding pads that you can then activate all at once? Assuming things being equal, would the forces cancel each other out, or would it just be more violent clang?
