Graphene 2025 - Graphene For A New Era
What is this mod?
Graphene 2025 is a from-scratch remake of the old Graphene mods, produced by scripts to allow it to be updated quickly and accurately, and under a permissive license that should ensure that if you download a mod named Graphene 2025, you'll have a consistent experience.

tl;dr
This is the Graphene 2025 - Core mod. It contains the components used to build all the Graphene 2025 blocks, but doesn't contain any blocks on its own. You'll need this AND one of the other mods to do anything other than collect graphite, refine it into bars, and make components.

Components:
Component
Durability
Ingots Neeeded
Layered Graphene Composite
200
10*C, 1*Ni
Reinforced Fullerene Tube
60
3*C, 0.1*Fe
Graphene Aerogel
200
1*C
Graphene Reinforced Mesh
400
10*C, 1*Ni, 0.5*Co
Large Graphene Tube
250
20*C, 2.5*Fe

I've never heard of Graphene. What makes it so special?
Graphene is basically molecule-thin layers of carbon. Scientifically speaking, it's tough - significantly stronger than steel. The problem, of course, is that we can't currently make it in enough bulk to make anything big out of it. My assumption is that this problem has been solved by 2077, and that's partly informed how I've balanced the mod.

From a game standpoint, it really follows the pattern of the old mods - harder, faster, better, stronger, longer. Most things made from graphene will tend to be a little better than their vanilla counterparts in some ways. All Graphene blocks are more durable - usually around 2x for the most part, but armor is explicitly about 4x vanilla. For other parts, it depends largely on how the 1:1 component replacements fall (for example, prototech doesn't really get much in the way of extra durability most of the time.)

For functional blocks, they're usually enhanced in some way - better range, faster processing, more thrust, etc.

How is it different from the old mod?
The most significant change is the parts - this is not compatible with the old Graphene mods, as it uses different parts. Also, the parts mostly require some other materials, though less than their vanilla counterparts - grid equivalents still require some cobalt/nickel, tubes require iron, plates require a smattering of nickel. Aerogel is graphite only (and mostly replaces construction components, for what it's worth.)

Pretty much all vanilla SE blocks have been processed, and are represented across the various Graphene 2025 mods, including all current DLC. Note that DLC is NOT required to use this mod - if you don't have a DLC, only the DLC blocks are going to be unbuildable.

Armor has been specifically tuned to be similar to the old Graphene mod - despite the durability numbers being different, they're going to take roughly the same punishment.

At least some of the windows have been tuned to fall in the range of Graphene light armor, so they don't create significant weak points on your build (though they're still weaker than heavy armor.)

All blocks have had the 85% vulnerability to explosive damage removed - this is going to make them quite a bit tougher in most combat situations. That cool name you put on your ship won't get blown off as easily now.

Finally, it no longer takes an hour to grind down a single Graphene block with a vanilla grinder. It's not faster or anything, it's just not made slower.

What blocks are included in the mod?
I've provided a screenshot of the G-Menu, but I'm not listing all the blocks - it'd quadruple (or more) the size of the mod page in most cases, and I'm already super wordy.

Can I use your mod/icons/etc. in my <x>?
  • Modpack? Yes.
  • Server? See license.txt in the mod folder. Mostly yes, probably.
  • Mod? Yes, if you agree to the stuff in readme-modders.txt in the mod folder.
  • Server, but I want to change it to fit the balance of my server? See "Mod?" above.

Thanks to the KSH modding community for answering my dumb questions when I missed something obvious.

And finally, thanks to the original Graphene authors - sorry but not sorry that I did this. :)

Block mirroring and rotor parts have been fixed on all mobs that applies to.

@G4E mai waifu: I'll take a look at this over the weekend. I actually noticed the issue you mention with the suspensions on rotors as well - same general idea though, it spawns the vanilla part on the head of the rotor.

Some asymmetric blocks was mirrored to vanilla blocks but not graphene blocks, and graphene suspension spawn vanilla wheel but no graphene wheel

love it, sub to all of it!

I might consider it eventually if nobody else does it first, but man, I've spent a month staring at this stuff. I just want a nap right now. :V

Can you make a Carbon Extractor that can extract graphite ingot from stone like the old one? Or an optional mod that make stone can be refined into gravel+iron+nickel+silicon+graphite?

Say no more, love you
