Heldrungen Castle is known for its impressive gate complex. Many generals speak with reverence of the Hellgate, as all previous attempts to storm the castle ended in a bloody massacre at the castle gate. Many claim, in hushed tones, that the builder of the castle bestowed supernatural powers upon the gate through a secret ritual. Such myths arise quickly, but the blood of the numerous victims certainly tells a true story.
