1280 AD: Oeselian Tribes

This is one of the factions of my 1280 AD Livonian Campaign.

The Saarlased, whose name literally means “islanders”, are a Pagan culture native to the islands of Ösel, Dagö, Mohn and Wormsö. Deeply influenced by Scandinavian travelers, the Saarlased, or Oeselians are fearsome warriors and seafarers. After their rebellion was brutally suppressed two decades ago, the Bishop of Ösel came to nominally rule the islands. However, emboldened by the Zemgali resistance, the Saarlased warriors have overthrown the episcopal authority, and now threaten to raid and pillage the Estonian coast.
