Have you ever wanted to turn RimWorld into an immersive and realistic medieval world? I certainly did — and the Medieval Kingdoms series is the result of that pursuit. In this series, my goal is to represent medieval kingdoms and empires as historically accurate as possible.

Medieval Kingdoms: The Turks is a new faction mod inspired by the “Turks” faction from Medieval II: Total War and by historical Turkish empires, specifically the Seljuks and Ottomans. In this mod, you will find new unit types, a unique Turkic culture, a custom religion, new animals, and new items — all designed and illustrated based on authentic medieval depictions.

Initially, I planned this series as a submod for Medieval Overhaul. However, I realized that some players might prefer adding these mods into their general playthroughs, so I optimized it to remove the dependency on Medieval Overhaul. For the best possible medieval experience, I still recommend using it alongside Medieval Overhaul, Tabula Rasa (required for custom religion icons), and GiddyUp (required for cavalry units).

I’m a very inexperienced developer, and this is my first mod. Although I’ve tested it through many hours of gameplay, I’m sure there may still be bugs. I’d really appreciate it if you could share your suggestions for this and future projects, as well as any issues you encounter during your own playthrough.

If you enjoy this mod and want to support me, I may consider opening a Patreon page in the future. I’d be truly happy if the RimWorld community enjoys my work and supports the project. The next step will likely focus on an Eastern European medieval kingdom — but I’m completely open to your ideas and suggestions.

I hope you like it — have fun!

Lastly many thanks to the Tasty Armory developer Serina for great textures and Watch_Dogs for teaching me how to make bases!

@0Heartbleed0 I prefered to make Royalty a Byzantine specific system. In Byzantine Empire mod there is a Royalty patch where you can climb the ranks through Byzantine Empire rather than the generic Empire.

Or some player like me are just mixing them both at same time and they are pretty fun to play haha would love a royalty system on your mods athelas but it's maybe a bit complicated :o.
Really great work though

Thank you very much! I have played your mod and I believe it was a very good mod; however, as you said it was favoring mashup style rather than historical accuracy. I think both of the mods achieve an important thing, letting players choose from a variety of mods that are similar but in fact aiming different things.

This looks incredible! I'm really glad someone made an actual historical representation of the ottoman empire. I made House Zahir a fusion faction because I deliberately wanted to stay within the kinda mashup style of Medieval Overhaul of fictional medieval cultures. Now I have something to link to on my page for those that wanted something more accurate. Incredible work!

@Athelas

The error log is way to long to send to you. But as soon as I deleted the med patch located in this mod, everything started to work flawlessly. I have no idea why only me and zeth are affected but I assure you I have a clean instail of rimworld and only enabled the necessary mods.

I wish you luck, and if you cant figure it out maybe just scartch it. these mods are awesome and I hope you countine making them for a long time.

@Zeth.exe okay so a few days ago i said something about these mods not working with med overhaul. After some more testing I figured out it ONLY has problems with the turks mod. I simply went into the mod folder and disabled the med overhaul patch found inside the "mods" folder. If you can't figure out how to locate the turks main mod folder so you can delete the currently broken patch, what I did was I launched the game -> clicked on the mod -> then clicked advanced -> open folder

The only thing that is broken is the med overhaul patch. and im glad I finally found a fix for this problem.
