Early Days
It's day 3 of the outbreak, hospitals across the city broke into chaos and police is struggling to contain the infection. Survivors have to make their way across the city in search of an evacuation center that hasn't been overrun yet.

Gameplay
This campaign is pretty long, you can expect about 45-60 minutes of gameplay, depending on how much you explore. There's plenty of items, but you have to look for them.

There are also quite a few gauntlets in this campaign, so be ready for that.

IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY MODS WHILE PLAYING THIS, YOUR GAME MIGHT BECOME UNSTABLE

Having a few mods should be okay, but if you have 100+ mods with 4K textures and graphics overhauls, don't be surprised if your game is unstable.

You have been warned.

Why this happens
Left 4 Dead 2 has a ~3 GB RAM usage ceiling, if you get over that your game will crash.
Your addons are loaded into memory as you play and if you have too many, you risk running out of available memory.

I did what I could to decrease the RAM load, but this is a long and detailed campaign with many custom assets. Most maps hit 1.5-1.7 GB with no mods (for comparison official maps hit about 0.9 GB or less).

Forgot to mention that I also use these launch commands: -zone 1024 -heapsize 750000 -num_edicts 2048
From my experience, they do actually help and do not cause issues. At least, on my end

Overall, the campaign is just as great as "Prague", in my humble opinion. Loved the radio and TV broadcasts that add some life to the world around

With over a hundred of add-ons that I carefully picked over time to avoid issues, I only had slight framerate drops in exactly two areas (near the helicopter in chapter 2 and the Maple park gauntlet event area). Paged pool memory is set to "High". I am getting constant stutters only when running it in single player mode, which is basically an internal local server, so it requires more resources than just being a client connected to a remote server. We have been playing on a dedicated server, so I had no issues aside from non-critical FPS drops in two areas as I have already mentioned

Yea lower the setting to make it crash less basically, but the lower you go the more glitches you'll experience. Reduced texture resolutions probably help, but I haven't tested that. I do know that mods that increase resolution (like high res blood decals) make it crash more.

you forgot to mention which page memory setting, should i keep it high or lower it to low? Does Low mean the game will try to minimize ram usage? Also i have a mod that reduces the texture resolution to 64x64, will it help? not on survivros, just in map like doors. That's the literal name of the mod, reduce textures to 64x64

As far as I know only the content that is or could be needed gets loaded into memory, I split the campaign in a way so that there's 2 for shared content that gets used across multiple maps, so if you're playing any of the maps these 2 are loaded and then the rest of the parts are individual maps and content only used by that map. That should mean that only 3 of the 6 vpks are loaded at a time, but I noticed very little difference in RAM usage when comparing before and after splitting it this way.

Page memory seems to help from what people have been saying, but it can cause sounds to be broken (which makes me think that maybe it provides a softer lower limit to make sure it never gets too high, just a guess though)

My guess is that the main issue is too much custom content that needs to be loaded and the first 2 maps being right under most engine limits (walls, props, grass, entities, lightmap scale, etc...).

The crash when alt+tabbing is unrelated, if you run the game in fullscreen you will always have like a 50% chance of crashing when you alt+tab. If you want to be able to alt+tab and not crash, run the game in "windowed borderless" instead of "fullscreen".

You can open the task manager before loading the map, select "always on top" in the options of task manager so that you always see it.
