NEON

NEON

Put on some Walter Wanderley tunes and light up your streets at night!

Whenever I've looked at Communist-era photos of my home city, one thing stood out: Neon advertisements!
Growing up in Budapest, one thing that was mostly missing from the game were Neons.
It's time for the nights to come alive for a real communist utopia!

With the release of the early start DLC, we're getting some lovely old buildings which lend themselves perfectly for a Neon-soaked night!

These are non-colliding objects. The base package is only 1 texture each, with a separate skinpack for Hungarian neons.
Modders can add skins for their own country. There is a .psd guide in the workshop download.
Base textures are 512x512, but modders can increase texture size too.

There are 3 types:

-Building front (BF)
First floor - FF
High Front - HF
-Perpendicular - (PE)
-Rooftop (RT)
-Rooftop extra high (RT EH)

RT EH is for extra tall buildings. In my pack, they have the same texures as RT, but they have their own texture, so a modder can make a separate one.

Update: Find it under Attractions, Sight Tower (originally under monuments, however this was causing issues with night lights.)

Hi Eve_Reese! Thanks for tip, I'm not super familiar with making buildings for WRSR. I've implemented the changes, and they are now free, and hopefully requiring no maintenance either.

Frikthisname, do you have anything in mind?
I was thinking about car brands at one point (both modern Western, and Communist era Eastern), those are fairly universal, and can be used by any republic.
I also have the Modern Supermarkets Skinpack.
Also, it's fairly easy to make, if you dissect the Hungary Skinpack for example.
There is a Guides.png in the main package to help place your signs max. boundaries.

They're great!

Are you planning on adding Western style neon signs in the future by any chance?

Hello! You could try to make it free. If you add the $IGNORE_COUNT_LIMIT tag, that should make it not be limited. With the $NO_LIFESPAN and no lines of $COST , you should make it free, and placable without limits. That would make it significantly more usable for realistic mode <3

Thanks for the comment :)
I have experimented in making it free, however in this case you can only build x5 maximum.
So instead I've added footpaths (in all directions, and away from the sign, as otherwise you'd have to build a footpath into the building, which wouldn't work. This way it will)!

They look very cool, but could you make them free to build or add a footpath connection? Otherwise they are impossible to build in realistic mode.

Based on the idea, I've made a Modern Supermarket Skinpack, available on the Workshop now

Glad you like it! Yes, by copying my Skinpacks structure, you can make your ow. There is a Guide in the original archive for image placement. I would reconmend a minimum 512x512, and DDS5.
