Harbin Z-9

Z-9F and Z-9D are variants of the Z-9 helicopter, which was developed by AVIC Harbin Aircraft Industry Group through the licensed production and modification of the French "Dauphin" helicopter (SA.365).

Domestic production of this model began in the 1980s, and it has since evolved into various military and civilian versions including gunship, ASW, and SAR platforms. It has become one of the most important helicopter platforms for the Chinese Army Aviation, Naval Aviation, and civilian sectors.

The Z-9F is a shipborne ASW helicopter equipped with a surface search radar and a dipping sonar. In contrast with its predecessor, Z-9C, the Z-9F is capable of carrying both lightweight ASW torpedoes and dipping sonar simultaneously, albeit at the cost of being able to carry only one torpedo.

The Z-9D is a shipborne utility helicopter that serves as the basis for the Z-9F. It does not have any ASW kit, only capable of carrying anti-ship missiles. Z-9D can also perform SAR tasks.
