This mod is a revivification of Blackwood’s BW-Panzer-VIII found here:

Which in itself originally was an arma 2 mod by "daman3".

I have reconstructed the mod and made it standalone. You do not need Iron Front to use this.

I have rebuilt the weapons for the Maus in accordance with what research I could find on the interwebs.
The big boom gun has a custom firing sound, because reasons.

It’s weapons are:

128mm KwK 82 L/55, firing the following ammunition:

128x869mmR 12,8/8,8 PzGr.TS. An 88mm sabot AP shot, 20 rnds
128x869mmR APC PzGr, HEAT, 20 rnds
128x869mmR APCBC-HEAT PzGr.43 Improved HEAT, 20 rnds
128x869mmR Sprgr. L/5, HE, 8 rnds

68 rounds total


75mm KwK 44 L/36.5, Coaxially mounted, firing the following ammunition:

75×243mmR Sprgr. 34, HE, 50 rnds
75×243mmR Hl.Gr 38C, Hollow Charge, 40 rnds
75×243mmR K.Gr.Rot Nb., Smoke, 10 rnds

100 rounds total


7.92mm MG34, Coaxially mounted.

250rnd belts, 3000 rounds total.

Since the Maus was a 188 ton behemoth, it was intended to ford rivers. I have given it underwater traverse capability with a large air supply to represent this.

In addition, as a bonus in my research it appears that there was even some preliminary work on the next version, dubbed Maus II. I have created this variant with the following fictional weapons:

15cm KwK 85 L/46. The intended length for the proposed 150mm gun was 38 calibers, but I extended that to 46 to equal to the same 128mm L55 barrel length. I also made up the following ammunition based on early concept work, reduced from the original 68 128mm capacity to 56 rounds:

149.1x960mmR Granate 19 Rot Beton, Anti-Concrete shell. Functions as an AP shot, 10 rnds
149.1x960mmR APCBCHE-T, Armor Piercing Capped, Ballistic Capped, High Explosive with Tracer, 20 rnds
149.1x960mmR SAP, Semi Armor Piercing, 10 rnds
149.1x960mmR HL-Granate, Hollow Charge, 8 rnds
149.1x960mmR Sprenggranate, HE, 8 rnds


75mm KwK 44 L/36.5

Same Ammunition load as original Maus


7.92mm MG42 Coaxially mounted. MG upgrade with a faster fire rate.

250rnd belts, benefiting from some ammunition rearrangements, 5000 rounds total


Caveats / flaws:

The model is binarized or otherwise unopenable by me, I could not edit it.
Therefore there are several things to be aware:
The tracks sink into the ground.
I tried several ways to implement the hitpoints for the various areas of the tank (hull, L track, R track, etc) without success, so the tank functions as damage across all systems.
The commander view has some clipping issues.
I have wedged the driver and the gunner inside (cannot turn out) but so far I have been unable to force the same on the commander. Turning out makes the commander clip partially outside the tank.
There is a phantom muzzle flash on the 75mm muzzle.
I’ve tried several methods to force a damaged and/or destroyed texture on the tank, to no avail. It appears to not have its hiddenselections setup.
I have darkened the texture and added some scratches for additional detail.

Probably lots more work to iron out.

Which faction does this fall under in the editor? I am running with SPE and I cannot seem to find the Maus?

Would you please making compats for IFA3, FOW, SPE, CSA38, to use their German crewmans and ammos? For each comapt will have different classnames for this giant tank.
