When the Soviet Union and the nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization waged nuclear war upon each other, the vital British territory and port city of Gibraltar was not spared. In the following years, global temperatures rose as a result of tens of thousands of nuclear bombs wreaking havoc upon the ozone layer of the atmosphere, and spreading their radioactive poison. Thus, polar ice caps began to melt more rapidly, and so ocean levels rose with the temperatures, resulting in Gibraltar's connection to mainland Spain being flooded over, with much of the city being washed away with the tides.

What remains was but a humble fishing village brought under the protection of the Kingdom of West Sahara. West Sahara, beginning in 2074, built a military airfield and started works on a naval shipyard and port, with intentions to grow the area and bring it back to its former glory.
