I have a suggestion. Perhaps when the TF2 npc's switch weapons, it'd be better if they switch to a gun rather than the buggy melee weapons since they don't swing them or only swing them once. I think it'd be easier for you to code that in instead of fixing the melee weapons. For example, an Engineer is using his pistol to shoot an enemy from afar, but once the enemy gets close, the Engineer will switch to a shotgun, as seeing the npc's use shotgun for long-range combat take too painfully long to finish the fight makes it quite boring. So, short-ranged guns should be secondary weapons, and long-ranged weapons should be primaries for the npc's. I think it'll make npc battles a lot better.
