The GP38-2 is, basically, a four-axle locomotive that was produced by EMD from January 1972 to July 1986 as part of their Dash 2 Series of locomotives, and the GP38-2 has seen 2,264 examples built during the years that production took place; the GP40-2, having 1,143 examples built also from 1972 to 1986, is essentially the same thing, only it is an upgrade for the GP40. A particular variant of both locomotive models were the GP38-2W and the GP40-2W, Canadian versions of the GP38-2 and GP40-2 respectively, built by GMD, that differed from the other spartan cab GP38-2s and GP40-2s with the fact that they featured a wide-nosed Canadian comfort cab, designed, built and ordered by the Canadian National; 51 examples of the GP38-2W would be built and delivered to the Canadian National between 1973 and 1974, while 279 of the GP40-2W would be built between 1974 and 1976 both for the CN and GO Transit. This mod aims to recreate the GP38-2W and GP40-2W as closely and accurately as possible; features include engine audio (EMD 16-645E3), bell audio (GMD bell), horn audio (an ex-CN Holden/Nathan K3L horn), smoke particles (start-up and running), and the template livery.
