Rise of the Samurai:
- "Taira" is now "Pro-Taira"
- "Minamoto" is now "Pro-Minamoto"
- "Fujiwara" is now "Pro-Fujiwara"

Grand Campaign:
- "Shinto-Buddhism" is now "Shintoism & Zen Buddhism" (a sub-sect of Mahayana Buddhism)
- "Ikko" is now "Jōdo-Shinshū Buddhism" (a sub-sect of Mahayana Buddhism)
- "Christianity" is now "Catholic Christianity" (since the Protestant Dutch aren't in the game for some reason) *EDIT - nevermind, the Dutch weren't in Japan until several decades into the Tokugawa Shogunate/ Edo Period.

Fall of the Samurai:
- "Pro-Emperor" is now "Pro-Emperor Meiji"
- "Pro-Shogun" is now "Pro-Shogun Tokugawa"
- "Neutral" is now "Parliamentary Republic" (as Japan currently has a parliament)



Thought about doing a presidential republic since that's what the Republic of Ezo in Hokkaido had, but Matsumae isn't playable without mods and a presidential system wouldn't make sense with how *Shogun II* works because your clan is the hereditary head of the republic, no elections exist for each leader. However, Britain is a parliamentary republic that's also technically a constitutional monarchy, so that works best for Japan like it does in real life, except with your clan leader instead of an emperor. This also makes sense given Britain's close relationship with Japan from the Meiji Period until 1923 meant that historically at this time, Britain had a significant influence on Japan.

Should be compatible with all mods unless they change religion names I suppose, or maybe add more religions like the 'Morning Sun' mod; haven't checked. Just make sure it's higher up in the load order.
