The lithoids and hive minded species have a special trait when you choose them, which makes the gameplay with them a little different and more unique, you could do a trait for these species too, it could for example make them eat exotic gases instead of food, it would be their "fuel" just like food is for us, since it's kinda strange that beings made of fire eat food, but I think would make a lot of sense if they needed gases, it would probably be necessary to start with the technology maybe with some origin made for them.
this trait could also make them morre habitable in desert, arid and savanna planets, and less habitable in wet climates, and for some balance they could have a little buff in alloy production, since they are made of fire
