Does anybody remember the Mechanocrystallines? I remember the Mechanocrystallines. Do you really think I would let the story of my all-time favorite fictional species end on such a sad note? Of course not! Because, little did Rayyax or the Octoplix know, they weren't the last Zemplix. As it turned out, the Mechanocrystallines had still survived. In the 15 million years that have passed since we first met them, they have evolved in some truly incredible ways. They were discovered when a highly advanced alien race known as the Craxawoops came across a strange creature (although "creature" might be a stretch for something like this) unlike anything they'd ever seen before. It appeared to wander throughout the depths of space with its eyes closed as if it was perpetually asleep. Hence the name Sleeper. But no, they were actually wide awake. They merely leave their eyes closed to sense the world around them with their antennae, as the Crystalline Crawlers they were, in a way, descended from used to do. These were the true last Zemplix (if you can even call them that anymore), although they didn't show signs of dying out any time soon. They can weaponize regular old water by firing it out of their mouths at speeds so high it can actually injure another creature though so that's cool.
