Confederate Carolinian-1878

The Carolinian-1878 commonly referred to by Union forces as The Carolinian was a fictional Tank that was constructed in the last years of the American Civil War, by the Confederate States of America in 1878, with it's first test prototype being used in action against Union forces in the Battle of Surge on December 19th, 1878, and was ironically declared to have been the worlds first Heavy Tank to be used in warfare, even though at the time of the 19th Century, the term tank would not be invented as as a way to describe the class of the vehicle up until the 20th century.

The Carolinian would take part in Wars outside the American Civil War, and would be used by the United States Military among their other Civil War Era Tanks at the time of both the Great Mech War along with the First World War I, up until its full retirement in 1920 after over 42 years of service in the United States Army.

The Carolinian's Design would go on to Inspire the French in the Post War Years in the early 20th Century, after a single Carolinian was captured at some point in 1915 by French forces at the time of World War I, where it's designs would be copied and sent to Paris, which would allow the Renault Company to create the Char B1-Bis Renault Tank over 20 years later in 1935, a tank that would eventually be used against the Americans in World War II, along with the T-34 Tank that would go onto become a killer to US Tanks during that same conflict.
