Overview
Welcome to Ultimate Rome II.
This is my personally curated collection of mods designed to elevate Total War: Rome II while preserving its original spirit.

Features
The goal of this collection is to keep the game’s vanilla balance and mechanics intact, but enhance every visual and gameplay aspect for a richer, more immersive experience. Expect HD-quality textures, reworked and historically true unit appearances, improved lighting and environmental details, and subtle but meaningful gameplay adjustments that make battles more engaging and realistic.
Performance has been carefully optimized, ensuring smooth gameplay even on mid to lower-end systems. Every mod included has been selected for compatibility, stability, and immersion, so you can enjoy a refined and modernized Rome II without sacrificing its classic feel.
Ultimate Rome 2 is not a radical overhaul it’s a respectful remaster that enhances what made the original great, bringing ancient warfare and strategy to life in higher fidelity than ever before.


Reshade
I haven’t included any ReShade in this collection, but I highly recommend installing
Reshade[reshade.me] alongside the preset Lux Un Umbra - ReShade Preset
This is the setup I personally use, slightly tweaked to match my own visual preferences. It enhances lighting, contrast, and overall atmosphere, making the world of Rome II look more cinematic and immersive without straying from its historical tone.

Install Instructions
How to install:
0. Make sure you have your game in ENGLISH as Vanilla Additions supports only english.
1. After a fresh installation of Rome II, start the game once to reach the main menu, then quit.
2. Subscribe to all mods in this collection.
3. Launch the Rome II launcher and allow it to download and fetch all subscribed mods from the Workshop.
4. Once completed, arrange the mods in the exact order listed below.
5. Go to Tiny VFX mod page, and follow the installation instructions.
6. Launch the game and enjoy the enhanced experience.
7. You may add additional mods outside this collection if you wish, but avoid exceeding 35 mods total. Going beyond that can cause issues such as invisible generals or conflicts with AAA features.
