Alaska Railroad Rotary No. 3

ARR Rotary #3 was built by the Cooke Locomotive Works in 1930, and operated under steam power into the mid-1960s. In 1967 it was converted to electric operation with a pair of EMD traction motors geared to the drive shaft, and was powered by a lightly modified F7B unit that had its main generator disconnected from its traction motors. The unit was totally rebuilt in 1985 and repainted in the "Bold Alaska" livery, and was last used operationally in 1995. It was retired in the early 2000s.
