Beskrivning
A mini-mod which allows you to train animals to not roam off. Animals of size > 0.6 (configurable in the mod options) may be trained if they've finished basic tameness. The training option does not show up if the animal is not of the roaming variety.

Trained animals are still roped and used pens, but have some ability to use and respect zones. They can be assigned zones and use them so long as they can access them, but they can't operate doors.

This mod may especially useful for users of Giddy-Up.

Compatibility
  • If you use Hunt for Me or Kill for Me, be sure to load this mod after them.

Has anyone been able to test if this is still working in 1.5?

This mod is very helpful but results in a very particular problem. If animals are left in an area where they can't return to the zone due that they are restricted to due to doors (which they still cannot open), they're stuck and you can't move them as there is no way to make colonists lasso animals that have boundary training. The way you have to let these animals back into their intended area is by forcing doors to be open so that they path back in.

This is mainly a problem if you have a perimeter wall around your base and are using Giddy-Up to have colonists mount pennable animals. On occasion pennable mounts will be left behind outside the perimeter and if they're hungry, cannot be mounted again.

@Miguel Cairo A bit late but for anyone else wondering, it seems removing mid-save will just delete the the skill from your roaming animals entirely, so if you were to add it back i'm pretty sure they would just be set to 0/3 again. I yoinked it out of my save with no errors or issues to note, so in my experience it seems fine to do it at least.

@flee the entire point of the mod is to make it so animals that normally need to be penned don't have to be penned. What are you talking about? You can't even boundary train non-pennable animals.

All you guys having issues with your animals not being able to be re-penned. Stop boundary training penned animals. This mod is for animals set to areas. Why would you need to boundary train your penned animals?

For people experiencing the bug with animals getting tied down, Caravan Formation Improvements comes with a patch to fix it if you have that mod installed.

I'm having a similar issue with pens, even if I assign my animals to a specific area they most often will not try to go there. I have giddy-up so I usually just ride the animal to where I need them if I can but otherwise I've mostly given up on boundary training my larger animals... I've noticed that when the training drops to 2/3 they immediately start refusing to move to an assigned area on their own but also can't be roped to a pen, only to a caravan spawn. It has been frustrating to constantly check to make sure my animals stay at 3/3, so I'm going to have to stop using the mod in the meantime but I really like the idea!
