Rift

Friend on the other side.


The Rift is an active item that consumes pedestal items in your current room to spawn and buff a unique familiar, allowing you to turn useless items into something useful (similar to Void or Abyss)!

The 'Riftling' familiar is spawned by the first item consumed, and will shoot with Isaac - dealing a small portion of his damage. However, consuming further items can power up the Riftling with greater damage scaling, a higher rate of fire or tear effects such as homing/bouncing/piercing and more.

Gaining tear effects from consumed items is rarer than gaining damage or tears - though consuming specific items will grant specific tear effects (for example, consuming Spoon Bender is guaranteed to grant homing or consuming Ouija Board is guaranteed to grant spectral tears).

The Riftling grows in size and changes color based on the buffs it receives. Should you decide that your Riftling is sufficiently powerful, you can swap your Rift out with another active and keep the Riftling! You can even hand the Riftling over to your co-op partner by giving them the Rift.

The Rift and its familiar synergize with all the items you would except from an active/familiar such as: Car Battery, BFFS!, King Baby, Forgotten Lullaby, Baby-Bender and others. You can find the Rift in the treasure or baby shop item pools. The Riftling is a unique familiar and thus will not be duplicated by Box of Friends, but it will grant it double fire rate since no synergy is boring :))
