Latest Version Released 12/13/25, compatible with vanilla patch 1.18.X

This is an optional compatibility patch for Regional Immersion and Cultural Enrichment (RICE) and Ethnicities & Portraits Expanded (EPE).

RICE is already compatible with EPE. However, by default, RICE’s new cultures will use vanilla ethnicities (i.e. the physical appearance of characters) rather than ethnicities added by EPE - this compatch changes that, so RICE’s new cultures use EPE’s ethnicities as appropriate.

For load order, put this compatch AFTER both RICE and EPE. Per the EPE team, RICE should be before EPE in the load order.



While I think you can add this compatch to an existing save game, please note that it will not affect any existing characters so it is recommended you use this with new playthroughs.

No compatch is needed for CFP+RICE. However, if you are using CFP and EPE, you will need the CFP+EPE compatch. The CFP+EPE compatch can be downloaded here: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2996881191

Thank you for this update! I'm making my own mod to fix the spanish translation in the game and with this mod it's all gonna work it out!

RICE has been updated to 1.18/AUH! Thank you all for your patience while I was busy the past few weeks!

Warning: A NEW SAVE IS REQUIRED. Remember you may need to unsubscribe and resubscribe for mods to update properly (multiple times if necessary).

As Chalderan said, RICE update to 1.18 is still being worked on, including the RICE+EPE compatch, as I've been busy in November IRL. There is a WIP RICE beta for the adventurous who are willing to risk the issues (see the GitHub link for more info), but it currently doesn't include any updated stuff for the RICE+EPE compatch since the new version of EPE just came out.

@El Boomer CFP and EPE aren't compatible with each other by default without a patch, and the patch hasn't been updated yet.

@El Boomer: I don't know what Special World is, but have you tried running with *only* RICE, EPE, and the RICE+EPE compatch to see if those work in isolation, without the other mods?

game crashes to desktop before loading to menus. when using this mod along with these guys: RICE, special world, CFP, EPE. This mod was last in the load order. Any clues? Much appreciated!
