CSX C40-8 No. 7580 (YN2)

(Requires Halton's GE C40-8 Pack).

CSX 7580 was built by General Electric in 1989, which makes her 32 years old at the time of me uploading this re-skin. There were a total of C40-8 locomotives added to the CSX roster over the years. 7580 first started life whilst painted in a plain grey livery, which was replaced by the YN2 livery mid-way through the 1990s.

In March 2000, CSX 7580 was involved in a collision with a school bus in Tennga, Georgia. The crash resulted in the tragic death of three people, and was caused by bus driver error. Another notable - but more wholesome - point in 7580’s career was in May 2004, when she hauled a rake of old and withdrawn grain wagons to a scrap yard in Kentucky. Since then she has settled down to a mundane and uneventful life in the CSX fleet.

7580 continued in service until 2016, when she was retired at 27 years old (which is a decent-length service life for a locomotive, in my opinion). The engine was sent for storage, but her current whereabouts are unknown.
