New Zealand Railways KA 971

KA 971 is an interesting sort, in the sense that she’s a miniature engine and not - technically - a real KA. Although none of the real KA’s had numbers in the 97x series (the highest numbered KA was 964), 971 got her number because it carries on from where the real NZR 4-8-4 numbers left off, at KB 970.

As far as I know, KA 971 was built in 2008. Based on photographs I’ve seen, her home railway appears to be the Keirunga Park Railway in Havelock North.
