At Pride Critical Countdown in 2004, Kevin Randleman took on Pride FC Heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko in a Grand Prix Quarterfinal bout. Randleman, fresh off a win against the imposing Mirko Cro Cop took the fight to his opponent, and having secured a waistlock, nearly launched Emelianenko into orbit with a leaping, twisting suplex that would dump the Russian directly onto his head in a move for the all time highlight reels of the sport. Amazingly, Emelianeko not only survived the traumatic impact, but would soon turn the tides and win the fight.

Even so, the move that would later be known as the Randleplex would live in the memories of any fans that witnessed it as a demonstration of the thrilling, explosive ability of Randleman's style.
