This mod is not made for large volumes of products, therefore there is no need for more transport connections. For large volumes, the workshop has good solutions for both storage and cargo platforms. There is no point in repeating what has already been done by others. Agree, it's silly to build in a small town for 1-2k of the population a huge repository with multiple access roads.
The issue is the constant hammering on inputs and outputs of production. You have a single rail - that allows for no multiple loading, or queuing, except for a very long train line
IMHO - dual if not quad tracks
