Kingdom of Northumbria

Beskrivelse
I have long been a fan of Anglo-Saxon history, particularly of Northumbria, which had the potential to be the greatest Anglo-Saxon kingdom before the rise of Mercia and Wessex. Although it eventually fell to Viking invasion its influence continued to be felt for centuries in the identity of the people of northern Britain. I felt that CK2 gave it a rather raw deal.

This mod adds a historically accurate recreation of Northumbria in the earlier bookmarks, allowing you to see what would have happened if the Northumbrian kings had consolidated their position in the face of Mercian dominance.The situation in each early bookmark presents a different challenge, and opportunities for Saxons, Vikings, Normans and English in northern Britain.

I have also corrected what I see as a few historical inaccuracies, changing a border here, and a culture there. These changes are minor, and in my play-testing seem to have helped game balance! An extensive set of notes and historical information are included in the mod folder.

How different would British history have been with a rival kingdom between Scotland and England?
Can you establish the Kingdom of Northumbria in the 8th century?
Can you repel the Vikings in the 9th century, or create your own pagan kingdom of the Danelagh?
Can you rebel against the Norman or Plantagenate kings, allow Northumbria to rise from the ashes, and crown yourself the king in the north?

@Gneiss Guy ARR doesn't make changes to the landed_titles but it cant be overwritten. I think it just needs to have a dependency line added to the .mod file if the two mods are to be used together.

@Wayne702 I'm afraid I don't know anything about that mod, but having had a quick look at it I'd be surprised if it makes changes to the landed_titles or history files that this mod does. If they are incompatible, and you can tell me where the problem is, I'd be happy to try to create a compatible version.

I was desperately searching for something like this. For purely pragmatic reasons

when trying to manage a Brittanic Empire, the Kingdom of England is this awkward superblob. You can't manage it nearly singlehandedly like you can with the other Brittanic kingdoms, and you can't give it away without its king constantly threatening to take over by faction.

But this? This is perfect. Give away the kingdom of Northumbria and wrangle a few dukes in England, or give Northumbria and England to two different vassals and run the Empire from any other kingdom.

The Britain experience needed something like this rather badly. It's a huge convenience, thank you.
