Chiaroscuro for Coos Bay. This color grading was developed with fog on. Fog provides a bluish scattering of atmospheric light which is needed for this lut to appear as intended. If fog is turned off the lut will produce a harsh image with too much yellow.
Chiaroscuro is a style of painting that makes use of strong contrast between light and dark. It can produce dramatic images if handled correctly. You will notice in areas of forest floor in the shade of trees it is very dark. This is intentional !
This color grading was produced in Photoshop using the LAB color space then converted back to RGB.
LAB color space allows tones to be brought out in an image that simply isn't possible in RGB.
