Since I don't know when or if I will get back to this here is a quick guide on how to make or play a free for all map:

To play:

Download the gamemode and also the testmap53 and mortalis_ffa map I have posted.

Make custom match, select testmap53, then leave and remake match, it should be selected by default and you should only see 2 slots. Now select the mortalis_ffa map and the free for all gamemode. Now people can join, but their slots will be invisible but they are there. Recommend getting your friends ready to join all at once or inviting them with party, but know parties get buggy with more than 3 people in them.

A known bug is that game will end if 1 player leaves, but you might be able to stop the bug by adding 1 ai.

To make:

In the map editor you need to set the teams so they are all different except the 2 last teams leave those on team 1 and 2.

then edit your map.options file like so:
slots = {
{status = open, team = 0, flags = flags_none },
{status = open, team = 1, flags = flags_none },
{status = open, team = 2, flags = flags_none },
{status = open, team = 3, flags = flags_none },
{status = open, team = 4, flags = flags_none },
{status = open, team = 5, flags = flags_none },

if you want ai add ai instead of open.

also add:
"Free For All" to permitted_game_mode_types
