There are now children in the world of Kenshi.

There are new starts as well. Play as a child of any race, and see how you fare.

(The "Parent Looking for their Child" start has their actual child living somewhere in the world. If you see characters that usually aren't there, they are story characters. Best not talk to them unless you're looking for the story character.)

Children have stat penalties, but some stats are boosted. Their health is lower and they are smaller in size. They are also treated differently sometimes.

Children will not grow up, but here is what you can do:
- Go to
...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\233860
- Copy the folder named "1688594162"
- Paste the folder into
...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Kenshi\mods
- Rename the copy of "1688594162" as "Children"
- Open the Kenshi editor
- Select the mod "Children"
- Select "Towns" from the list in the left
- Double click any town that you can visit
- Make sure the tab next to "Add" says "Bar squads"
- Press "Add" on the top right
- Select "SQUADADULT"
- Double click SQUADADULT
- Double click ADULT
- Edit the character to fit the child character
(-100 health on a limb means that that limb is missing)
- Save the mod. Start the game. Go to the town you placed the squad in. Find the adult version of your character. Talk to them and recruit them. "Dispose" of the child version of the character.

UPDATES:

June 2023:
- New faces for children
- Removed muscles from children
- Removed most dependencies to make this compatible with most other mods.

May 2024:
- Added a dud adult for easy editing to transform a child character into an adult
- Added info on where to find this mod and where to put it to edit it.

April 25:
- Had a request. If it breaks something, let me know and I'll roll back

Please report any issues you are facing with this mod. Make sure the issue is not created through mod incompatibilities.

Yeah I mean unfortunately some cheesing will be required. Funnily enough you can just run in with the mercs and have them distract while you pick the lock on your daughters cage then slip out. You leave the mercs to die basically which I don't really wanna do but you either cheese it like that or cheese grind up 10 people and brute force it. Just a shame that no matter what the start requires some form of cheese.

I had a tough fight but it was manageable with one squad of mercs and kitting out everyone I met along the way with crossbows. Although I use the 3 attack slots mod so my mercs probably ganged up on the guards and my bow users definitely did.

Alright this has to be said. Using the parent and daughter slave start...explain to me why on earth did you make the guards that hold your daughter captive all 80+ in stats? Hell some are even 90+. This is just stupid. Like your basically telling me, to rescue your daughter in this start that you have to bare minimum show up with atleast 10 heavily armored guys all 80+ in stats themselves. And even then that might only just be breaking even. All this to rescue your daughter who has 0 stats across the board. I couldn't even break the guards with multiple groups of hired mercs. Like..just why did you think this was the right thing to do here? Like you realize that you basically turned this unique start into just another rebirth slave start where I end up doing the same old thing as in any other slave start. By the time I get to a point in game where I could tackle these guards I'd have probably forgotten all about them completely negating the point of choosing this start to begin with.

Hmmm... forgot all about this mod. Was just planning on making smaller characters and have them get a little taller every few months via the plastic surgeon. Thanks for the mod!

"Model Not found" in Kaizo Collection happens because of wrong mod load order, you can find correct one in the collection's discussion(at the top of the page). It works as intended.

There should be a text file somewhere in the Kenshi directories where all your mods are in listed.
