This is for those people who like hearing battle sounds loud while not being deafened by their grinder, welder and most of all drill.

This mod reduces the volume of hand tools, ship tools, weather, doors, placement sounds and a few others that often feel deafening, while leaving the explosions booming, gatlings cracking and letting you hear a little bit more of the atmospheric sounds (though not the deafening rain).

For everyone who loves a good action movie, but doesn't feel that mining is action, this one's for you!


A big thank you to Remaarn for writing this one, all I did was pick which sounds and how much to reduce the volume, he did everything else :)



Disclaimer: I love the game sounds and I don't think there's anything wrong with the volume of the tools, they make sense, it's realistic they'd be almost deafening. What I wanted here was something inherently unrealistic that would help me with making my videos so I didn't have to edit these volumes after recording.

This mod only works for the Arcade sound profile, it won't make any impact on realistic.

Is it possible this mod also alters the volumes of the soundblock files? They seem to be so quiet...
And if not, is there a config file we can mess around? :)

As someone with an auditory processing disorder (particularly with loud and "static" sounds) this mod is a life saver. I can actually interpret what I am hearing when using tools and around my machines without my brain just shutting off its ability to analyze sounds.

In future, if you could add some sort of config menu or system that makes things easier to edit, similar to what is in Satisfactory, then that would be amazing. It's just a little hard to figure out which sound files actually represent each sound to manually edit the config if that's even possible. (I only briefly looked at it to see how it worked)

Thank you for restoring my sanity, as someone who has used a pneumatic drill in RL yes the sounds are realistic, but in RL I put on ear defenders to use this tool... So Thank you for providing those very needed ear defenders.

When running this on a server i get the following errors for sneaky sounds. Not sure if it actually hurts anything, just wanted you to be aware.
