This mod adds a whole range of different catch block sizes and with a low and high friction version of each

List of sizes. Every size has a normal, extended and one sided version, and a low, normal, high friction version

Also has:
- adjustable friction catchblocks and braking catchblocks
- Hydraulic Pistons
- Winches

The mechanical windmill cannot be converted to real moving parts.
What you can do is build your own windmill using sails, or use something like a steam engine.

You need to look at your keybindings. It is found under the Remote Rope control category. Called Channel 1 - Toggle braking catchblock
Default this will be set to Y I think.
You need to have control over the block by interacting with it. You will see a rope going from your player to the block
