Ryan

Ryan is yet another Thomas & Friends character I have attempted to replicate. In the show, he is actually a tank engine, but due to in-game restrictions I had to render Ryan as a tender engine.

He first appeared in a film called Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure, which came out in 2015. He was brought in by Sir Topham Hatt to work on the Elsbridge to Ffarquhar line - a.k.a 'Thomas' Branch Line' - while the blue E2 was helping with the construction of the line from Arlesburgh to Harwick, an extension of the Tidmouth to Arlesburgh line - a.k.a. 'Duck's Branch Line or the Little Western'. Thomas thought that Ryan was brought in to replace him on the Ffarquhar line, and became rather jealous (if my memory serves me right). Eventually Thomas and Ryan became friends, as all current-era Thomas characters do eventually.

Ryan is based on the Great Northern Railway N2 class, an 0-6-2 tank engine designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. This is the same person that designed the London & North Eastern Railway A3 and A4 classes. In other words, Flying Scotsman and Mallard. Only one N2 class locomotive is preserved in real life. This engine is GNR number 1744, which was numbered as 69523 during the British Railways era.
