I can (probably) adjust the mod files accordingly for personal use, but I wonder what the rationale is behind the extremely high HP considering many of those that remain play survival

because of depenceny of the steam engine what is depenceny of pulley etc...
Are you using the community edition? This crash might be fixed in it.
I built a crane which is rotated using cogwheels, (1 horizontal and a couple vertical). In single player it works just fine. However when I try the same design in multiplayer, I am finding that the gears bind and are extremely difficult to move. Sometimes they will move in 1 direction but not the other, other times its the reverse of that. There are no locks on either the catch blocks or gears. So can you suggest any reason for this or a possible solution please?
