In 14th and 15th century, colliers had very special status and privilegies. For example in Bohemia, they have freed from lots of taxes and fees, they have privilegy to wear a weapon (sword) in all cities in Bohemia. Colliers guild in Bohemia were one of the oldes guild.
Decline of the colliers became in 16th century, when they privilegies were gradually canceled. Degradation of colliers finished in 19th century with changes in metallurgy processes. With new fuel - black coal, there were no need for charcoal.

Why and how did Keen change this kind of visual effects?
But besides of this, I'm happy that the collier mod is working again. I think it's a great and nice mod for producing charcoal and again it gives more variety to the medieval world - thanks to you.
