Lite version of bigcity "improved"


Includes pretty much everything from the original except the water and the reflections on some of the buildings.

This map is far superior to the original version, especially if you're running a sandbox server and performance is of paramount importance.

@дабстеп мытищи It seems counter-intuitive when you look at it that way, but the larger size is due to the extra lighting information. You see, with the water gone, I felt the freedom to refine other parts as much as possible. So the lighting in certain areas, like the canals, have more detail because I lowered the lightmap scale in those spots. This makes the file size bigger, but the map still runs faster than the original.

why is the file size larger than the original? i thought lite would be lighter you know

Hey hey hows it going, I'm currently porting gm_bigcity into an empires mod map and made the mistake of not using your version with all the wonderful hint/skips you made in the first place(20 people crashed on the server running the unoptimized version) . My version used hl2 and empires mod textures and a few building edits but other than that its the same (minus the twin towers) .
I'm currently running into a vismap expansion overflow problem when trying to use your optimization on my version. Although i've only used fast compile, I couldn't help but worry it would have been for nothing to try to normal compile. I'm assuming this took a significant time to compile normally.

nope. faster and better... well better for running a sandbox server where everyone has a potato laptop. that was my motivation for this map
