Since The 1.6 update can't run larger modlists, or even small ones.
Hey- mostly asking to see if this is a issue exclusive to me and my older hardware/software, or if its something thats plaguing more than just me, Before the 1.6 update i was able to run 500+ modlists with only an absurd initlaizing time(sometimes even 2-3 hours) which was acceptable.

But since the 1.6 update, i have been suffering from an issue that sometimes even 50 mod modlists will be stuck initalizing forever (waited for over 5 hours to confirm) At first i considered it might be a mod incompatibility error, but it seems to happen no matter what mods are used. and is as far as i can guess random.
I have both cleared out my config files, and cleanly reinstalled the game. and changed my mod loader to rimsort (While also trying just using steam and the inbuilt mod loader)

I have found the point where it freezes during what the mod calls
"loading Progress:Executing delayed initialization tasks"
"Calling all static constructors...(Name of mod here)"
The specific mod there is generally random, as in removing the mod just causes it to change to another one(generally the lowest on the mod order)
(for example right now its smart oddysey. but it was
"The Dead Man's Switch - AncientCorps"
"Nice Bill Tab"
and so on, seemingly forever.

Why im sure this isn't a specific mod issue. is that when i do get get a modlist to work, then adding even a single mod, no matter what it is causes it to load forever. even if the mod added changes a single texture or does basically nothing, it still results in the modlist being foreverload.

Im not posting a modlist because it is happening in different combinations of mods.

Try disabling Medieval Overhaul. That solved it for me.

Thank you for your suggestion but i can be sure it is not it. as i have used multiple modpacks without it.

For clarification i am Certain it isn't an issue with a specific mod. as i have had modpacks that had 0 mod overlap and both did not work exactly the same. The highest i can get a modpack to work is a 70~ Range and even then adding a single mod can completely ruin its ability to run.

Before 1.6 i could ran 500+ modpacks with minimal issue other than long start up time.

This isn't related to the dlc as i have tested that. and i have made sure this is not a "takes longer to load" issue. as even waiting 6 hours did not help (and previously 500+ modlists only took around 2-3 hours)

As far as i can see, the update has just ruined my ability to use mods. and i am guessing it is related to my somewhat outdated software/hardware
Not sure what the issue is, but I doubt it is the game.This is almost certainly the mods themselves not playing nice between each other.

I run just under a hundred with no issues, and there are people that are running mod lists well north of 400-500 that you can watch yourself on youtube.

i have run 500+ modlists before the update.
i have tried running modlists made by other people. i have tried making my own. anything i do since the update just doesn't work.
my brother also has rimworld (bought it this update infact) and i made a modpack for both of us at the start-
roughtly 160 mods

He could run it without issue

I had to reduce it to less than 50 for it to run.

in fact he is without issue running 300-400 modpacks right now when i am having to spend hours playing a puzzle with trying to get above 70 to run.

even when using a modlist only filled with QOL mods with barely any content. i still run into this.
Modpacks that have been tested to hell and back and 100% work, I can't run.

because of this i am convinced something within this update changed from the hardware/software requirments. as my brother has a considerably newer(not stronger) Pc and newer software.

Which is why im looking ot see if i can find anybody else sharing my issue.

I'm currently running 1,290 mods and it's working great - have you verified your game files to make sure everything downloaded correctly? I had issues at first with 1.6 but it turned out to be steam workshop bugging out.

I have the same feeling. After 1.6 large modlists (over 400) have high chance of crashing. Binary search doesn't help. Different mods, crash often is unpredictable. It's obvious that problem is not in particular mod... Can't solve this except of using less mods.

I am having the exact same problem, but some days it will load past the "Calling all static constructors...(Name of mod here)", screen, sometimes it won't.. I have tried deleting and reinstalling all mods, verified files and just about any other fix under the sun, it still happens..
So if you find a fix for it let me know, cause it's super frustrating lol

@MrPinkorino It seems that this is a problem of unity engine working with memory. Reloading computer solves problem in 99%. I noticed also, that after I made DDS textures with Rimsort, the crash became much more rare.

Hey! Late reply but I had the same issue. Solved it by booting up vanilla Rimworld and set to windowed. Close out of Rimworld and have task manager open in the background. After adding/sorting mods with Rimpy, I launch Rimworld and quickly open task manager’s window. So I have task manager overlayed on top of Rimworld and the active window is task manager. For some reason it finishes loading “Calling all static constructors”

I’m assuming Rimworld is stalling on something but when you’re on another window it’s forced to refresh differently

what worked for me is by raising my maximum paging file aka virtual memory before i raised it was crashing randomly while loading on certain last points of the game after raising it managed to load the game without it crashing anymore
